Ernest Gary Gygax was the original creator of Dungeons and Dragons and is generally considered the father of modern role-playing games. He died on 4 March, 2008, and so the film Bender's Game, in which the Geysers of Gygax were named in his honour, was dedicated to him. He was also referenced in "Fry am the Egg Man", when Farnsworth opens the Gygaxicon.
